Do You Believe? 不可思议

The following incident happened at a construction project in Brunei in 1981

While preparing the ground for a septic tank, the contractor had planked and strutted the sides of the excavated ground, put in place all the form-work and reinforcement in readiness for concreting.

The water table was high due to the river nearby. The contractor had sunk a number of well points and installed a few high power pneumatic pumps to lower the level of water. By his engineer's calculation, the equipments were sufficient.

However, after over an hour, he still could not get the level of water in the pit below that he wanted. The project was already going into penalty time. The contractor was naturally worried.

A bomoh heard about the contractor's plight and decided to go check out for himself. After surveying the ground, he said that the local deity guarding the peace of the area was angry with the contractor for not appeasing him before starting work. The bomoh then advised the contractor to slaughter a goat and offer to the local deity (Datuk Kong).

The next day, the contractor started his de-watering works again at the appointed time. This time the water level quickly went down and he was able to continue with the rest of the construction work.

Believe it, or not?
